Trading Range:
Nifty opened flat to negative at 11828 on Friday and made a high and low of 11828 and 11705 respectively before closing negative at 11724.
Review/Outlook:
For the day, support for Nifty exists at 11690 and 11640 levels whereas resistance for Nifty stands at 11790 and 11830 levels.

Bank Nifty opened gap up at 30805, week made a high of 30805, low of 30541, and closed negative at 30628. For the day, support for Bank Nifty exists at 30500 and 30300 levels whereas resistance for Bank Nifty stands at 30800 and 31000 levels. |

The Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) appointed by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has told the pilots and staff of Jet Airways that their salary dues may not be settled fully as the company is undergoing the insolvency process. In a meeting with the Jet management the IRP, Ashish Chhawchharia, Partner, Grant Thorton, charted out two possible scenarios for clearing dues. (BL). |
Citing zero debt and a continuous increase in market share, an association comprising engineers and account professionals at BSNL has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention for the revival of the state-run firm and also said that non-performing employees should be held accountable. NTPC and PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited have signed an agreement to set up the National Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCL). NEDCL will be a joint venture of the two on 50:50 equity basis. “The main aim is to undertake business for distribution of electricity in distribution circles of India and related activities,” a PGCIL statement said. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Saturday said the US Food and Drug Administration has issued a Complete Response Letter (CRL) regarding the new drug application for Ryaltris. The CRL cites deficiencies in the Drug Master File pertaining to one of the active pharmaceutical ingredients and in manufacturing facilities, the company said in a regulatory filing. (BL). |
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has observed that Walmart’s earlier joint venture retail operations in India, with Bharti Enterprises, routed improper payments to government officials through third-party intermediaries to obtain store operating permits and licences between 2009 and 2011. These improper payments were then recorded in the India joint venture’s books as “misc fees”, “miscellaneous”, “professional fees”, “incidental”, and “government fee”. (ET). |

Fiscal deficit for the month of April was at Rs 1,57,048 crore which is 22 per cent of the budgeted estimate for the year 2019-20, slightly lower than what it was in the same period a year ago and as a percentage to the GDP, the fiscal deficit is at 0.75 per cent, Department of Expenditure (DoE) figures showed. These are the fiscal situation of the Central government as seen from the accounts for April 2019 of the Controller General of Accounts (CGA). For 2019-20, the fiscal deficit has been set at 3.4 per cent of the GDP in the interim Budget. (BL). |
The outlook for the manufacturing sector is moderate in the first quarter of 2019-20 as the percentage of respondents reporting higher production during the quarter has fallen compared with that of the fourth quarter of 2018-19, according to FICCI’s quarterly survey. (ET).

DJIA and NASDAQ Composite
US markets slightly lower at the end of the week on Friday amid a flurry of 'dovish' remarks from top US central bank officials, even as markets kept a close eye on remarks out of Washington and Beijing ahead of an expected meeting between the US and Chinese Presidents on the margins of the G-20 leaders' summit in Japan scheduled for the following week. The Dow Jones Index closed at 26,719,
down 34.04 points by 0.13%. The Standard & Poor s 500 index closed at 2,950, down 3.72 points by 0.13%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 8,032, down 19.63 points by 0.24%.
FTSE 100
UK markets had slipped into the red by the close on Friday, with investors remaining cautious amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran. The FTSE 100 index closed at 7,408, down 16.94 points by 0.23%. |

Asian stocks opened mixed on Monday, while U.S. futures edged higher, as investors monitor geopolitical risks and plans for the high-stakes meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. Oil climbed as the U.S. said it was planning sanctions on Iran. Nikkei is currently trading at 21,259, down 204.22 points by 0.95%.

Gold increased 0.6% to $1,407.29 an ounce on Monday.
Base Metals
Tin’s forward spreads on the London Metal Exchange on Friday have narrowed from their widest backwardation since 2015 against a 50% stock rise in June.
Crude Oil
West Texas Intermediate rose 0.9% to $57.93 a barrel on Monday. |
