Trading Range:
Nifty opened gap up at 12220 on Thursday and made a high and low of 12226 and 12140 respectively before closing negative at 12175.
Review/Outlook:
For the day, support for Nifty exists at 12100 and 12050 levels whereas resistance for Nifty stands at 12230 and 12270 levels.
Review/Outlook:
Bank Nifty opened gap up at 31587, made a high of 31649, low of 31181, and closed negative at 31230. For the day, support for Bank Nifty exists at 31000 and 30800 levels whereas resistance for Bank Nifty stands at 31500 and 31700 levels. |

Zydus Cadila on Thursday said it has got final approval from the US health regulator to market Mesalamine suppositories. The drug is used to treat ulcerative proctitis, a type of bowel disease. (ET). |
LT Foods on Thursday said that it has entered into a shareholder’s agreement with United Farmers Investment Company in connection with a proposed acquisition of the stake currently held by India Agri Business Fund Ltd and Real Trust by the Investor in Daawat Foods.. (BL). |
Quarterly Earnings |
State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) on Thursday reported near trebling of net profit in the December quarter to Rs 2,051.43 crore. BPCL had posted a net profit of Rs 698.62 crore in October-December 2018, the company said in a regulatory filing. Revenue from operation dropped to Rs 85,926.70 crore from Rs 89,324.86 crore a year ago on lower oil prices. (BL). |
Vakrangee posted profits of Rs 21.44 crore at the end of the December quarter against Rs 3 crore during the same period last year. Its revenue from operations doubled to Rs 199.2 crore while the total income grew nearly 84% at Rs 218 crore. The company said its robust growth was due to focus on store profitability and service activation across its network. (ET). |
Vodafone Idea (VIL) has posted a loss of Rs 6,453.2 crore for the third quarter of the fiscal, dragged down by customer losses, high costs and one-time expense related to its statutory dues. The telco had posted the largest loss of India Inc in previous quarter at Rs 50,897.9 crore in the previous quarter. (BL). |
Kishore Biyani-led Future Retail Ltd on Thursday reported a 16.72 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 164.56 crore for the third quarter ended December. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 197.60 crore in October-December quarter a year ago, Future Retail said in a regulatory filing. Total income fell 3.07 per cent to Rs 5,208.89 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 5,374.12 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. (ET). |
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd on Thursday said it has recorded a consolidated profit of Rs 89.95 crore during the quarter ending December 2019 asagainst Rs 49.87 crore during the corresponding period the previous year. The city-based healthcare major said in a BSE filing that profits for the year ending December 2019 surged to Rs 222.20 crore from Rs 127.34 crore registered the same period last fiscal. The consolidated total income for the quarter under review grew to Rs 2,921.40 crore from Rs 2,507.53 crore registered the same period a year ago. The consolidated total income ending December 31, 2019 rose to Rs 8,347.39 crore from Rs 7,137.62 crore registered the same period last financial year. (BL). |
Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) on Thursday reported a 32.53 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 203.67 crore during the quarter ended December, mainly on account of lower expenses. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 153.67 crore in the year-ago period, ATL said in a BSE filing. During October-December, the company's income remained almost flat at Rs 2,835.72 crore as compared with Rs 2,834.10 in the year-ago quarter. (BL). |
FMCG firm Gillette India on Thursday reported 31.63 per cent rise in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 71.07 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2019.The company, which follows July-June financial year, reported a PAT of Rs 53.99 crore for October-December 2018, Gillette India said in a BSE filing. However, its net sales was down 3.43 per cent to Rs 459.31 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 475.66 crore in the year-ago period. (BS). |

Global investment firm KKR has raised $1.3 billion for its KKR Global Impact Fund SCSp, which would be used to invest in companies that provide commercial solutions to environmental or social challenges. (BL). |
Global ratings agency Standard and Poor’s on Thursday affirmed India’s sovereign rating at ‘BBB-’ with stable outlook, saying the country’s GDP growth is likely to gradually recover towards longer-term trend rates over the next two to three years. (ET).

The government on Thursday expressed optimism that the rate of retail inflation will moderate by July. Rate of retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) surged to a 68-month high in January at 7.59 per cent. (BL). |
Etihad, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is to operate an additional flight each from Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi in May this year. (ET). |

DJIA and NASDAQ Composite
US markets had a turbulent Thursday, fluctuating between gains and losses on mixed news about the coronavirus outbreak, only to fade after the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said it will further shrink repurchase agreement operations. The Dow Jones Index closed at 29,423, down 128.11 points by 0.43%. The Standard & Poors 500 index closed at 3,374, down 5.51 points by 0.16%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 9,712, down 13.99 points by 0.14%.
FTSE 100
UK markets finished in negative territory on Thursday amid renewed concerns about the coronavirus, and as investors also digested a Cabinet reshuffle. The FTSE 100 index closed at 7,452, down 82.34 points by 1.09%. |

Asian share markets started trading early in the morning on Friday on a negative note as the investors will be closely watching the US markets. Nikkei is currently trading at 23,690, down 137.62 points by 0.58%.
Precious Metals
Gold strengthened 0.6% to $1,576.11 an ounce, the highest in more than a week on the largest gain in a week on Thursday.
Base Metals
The three-month price for lead on the London Metal Exchange was higher at the close of trading on Thursday February 13, nearing the $1,900 per tonne resistance level on a 1.7% uptick, while a positive close for LME copper saw it also approach nearby resistance.
Crude Oil
West Texas Intermediate crude increased 0.8% to $51.59 a barrel, the highest in two weeks on Thursday. |
