Trading Range:
Nifty opened flat at 12223 on Thursday and made a high and low of 12268 and 12191 respectively before closing positive at 12260.
Review/Outlook:
For the day, support for Nifty exists at 12190 and 12100 levels whereas resistance for Nifty stands at 12310 and 12350 levels.
Review/Outlook:
Bank Nifty opened gap up at 32282, made a high of 32328, low of 32085, and closed flat at 32241. For the day, support for Bank Nifty exists at 32000 and 31800 levels whereas resistance for Bank Nifty stands at 32400 and 32600 levels. |

Piramal Enterprises Ltd on Thursday said it has raised Rs 1,750 crore from Caisse de dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) through preferential allotment. The compulsory conversion of CCDs into equity shares will take place within 18 months from date of allotment, the company said in a statement. PEL has set the record date of December 31, 2019, for the Rights Issue. (BL). |
Lenders to Sintex Industries Ltd. rejected a debt restructuring plan by the company and intended to push it into bankruptcy. According to the resolution proposal, the textile company will be able to service only 30 per cent of its Rs.6,300 crore ($888 million) of bank loans, the people said, asking not to be named, as the information isn’t public. The plan also included infusion of about Rs.200 crore into Sintex by two other yarn producers, the people said. (ET). |
Justice D K Jain (Retired) has given his nod for the the sale of IL&FS education business to Career Point Publications Private Limited (CPPPL). In November, the committee of creditors of IL& FS had approved the sale of the education business, which would reduce its debt by Rs 600 crore, a paltry amount when compared to the Rs 91,000 crore it owes. Suven Life Sciences Limited has undergone USFDA renewal inspection at their facility in Pashamylaram near Hyderabad for the manufacture and supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (bulk drugs), intermediates and formulations under cGMP during Oct 21 through Nov 1, 2019. Based on this FDA inspection and the review thereafter, FDA has determined that the inspection classification of this facility is “voluntary action indicated” (“VAI”). (BL). |

In a first, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a simultaneous sale and purchase of government bonds under the Open Market Operations mechanism, on lines of the “Operation Twist” that was last adopted by the US Federal Reserve in 2013. ‘Operation Twist’ is when the central bank uses the proceeds from sale of short-term securities to buy long-term government debt papers, leading to easing of interest rates on the long term papers. Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Baghirathi Sustainability India to explore promoting electric vehicles in India. With this partnership, EESL seeks to deploy around 250 EVs and fast-track the adoption of e-mobility within private and government agencies, starting with Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Baghirathi Sustainability currently operates a fleet of around 131 EVs in India. (BL). |
Bengaluru-based Utkal Tubers India Pvt Ltd, a potato seed producer, proposes to raise additional capital of $5 million over the next 12 months to fund its expansion plans. In more news, the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), the infrastructure funding arm of the Kerala government, has disbursed Rs 390 crore as the first instalment of a Rs 5,200-crore grant to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to part finance the four/six-laning of some 565 km of national highways in the state. Domestic air passenger traffic growth is expected to reduce to a six-year low of 4.5 per cent in fiscal 2020 after five years of double-digit growth, according to ICRA. The temporary suspension of operations by Jet Airways, the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and technical issues with the Airbus A-320 New Engine Option (NEO) have impacted the industry’s capacity and passenger growth, ICRA said in a study. India’s farm produce exports have seen a sharp decline in the first seven months of the current financial year on weak demand and poor realisations. The total value of shipments including major products such as basmati rice and buffalo meat fell 16 per cent in dollar terms to $8.8 billion in April-October, against $10.5 billion in the same period last year. In rupee terms, the shipments were down 15 per cent to Rs.61,681 crore (Rs.72,523 crore in same period last year), according to the latest figures released by the Agricultural and Processed Foods Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Commerce Ministry. DJIA and NASDAQ Composite
US markets finished in the green on Thursday, with Wall Street’s main boards once again beating records, as investors shrugged off the news of the US President's impeachment amid some mixed economic data. The Dow Jones Index closed at 28,377, up 137.68 points by 0.49%. The Standard & Poors 500 index closed at 3,205, up 14.23 points by 0.45%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 8,887, up 59.49 points by 0.67%.
FTSE 100
UK markets finished positively Thursday, after the Bank of England stood pat put on interest rates, saying that it still expected economic growth in Britain to pick up as Brexit uncertainties eased and global growth staged a modest recovery. The FTSE 100 index closed at 7,574, up 33.07 points by 0.44%. |

Asian shares snoozed near 18-month highs on Friday as trade thinned in the run-up to Christmas and investors seemed content to digest the chunky gains already made so far this month. Nikkei is currently trading at 23,824, down 40.98 points by 0.17%.
Precious Metals
Spot gold was flat at $1,479.00 per ounce XAU=, and up just a fraction for the week so far on Friday.
Base Metals
Base metals prices other than lead closed higher on the London Metal Exchange on Thursday December 19, bolstered by an injection of liquidity into China’s open markets, while a weaker US dollar index also proved supportive.
Crude Oil
Oil prices consolidated on Friday after reaching the highest level in three months, buoyed by falling crude inventories and the easing in U.S.-China trade tensions. Early Friday, U.S. crude CLc1 had eased back 11 cents to $61.07 a barrel, while Brent crude LCOc1 futures were yet to trade. |
